Record number of participants at HypZert Annual Convention 2020
The HypZert Annual Convention set a record number of visitors in January 2020 with a good 1,300 participants. The former German Bundestag with the World Conference Center in Bonn was an impressive location for 13 seminars, specialist lectures and panel discussions with 25 speakers.
Opening in the Plenary Chamber
In the Opening Seminar held in the former Plenary Chamber, HypZert Managing Director Reiner Lux welcomed valuers and guests. Our international partners were enthusiastic about the industry get-together: Prof. Em. Aart Hordijk spoke for the IVSC, and Jim Amorin, CEO of the American Appraisal Institute, emphasized the long-term cooperation between HypZert and AI.
Dagmar Knopek, chair of the supervisory board of HypZert and member of the board of Aareal Bank AG, underlined the industry-wide recognition of the specialist expertise of HypZert valuers, which is also reflected in the work of the Professional Groups. At this year's Annual Convention, new updates of the studies "Valuation of Industrial Properties" and "Valuation of Retail Properties" as well as an update of the data sheets of the Professional Group Logistics could be published.
Jörg Quentin from the Deutsche Pfandbriefbank, Head of the vdp Committee Valuation, summarized challenges for real estate valuation, which arise on the one hand from regulatory requirements, on the other hand from social and technological upheavals such as digitalization and demands for sustainability. Why the term “sustainable value” must be defined at European level was explained by Annett Wünsche, vdp Department Head Valuation in her report on developments in regulation - keywords CRR, Basel III.
International Exchange
The topic “long-term sustainable value” was also the subject of a workshop by the LTSV Working Group, which HypZert and vdp had jointly launched, and a meeting with Prof. Hordijk and Prof. Neil Crosby, who discuss and research the topic in the Netherlands and in the UK and act as advisors of the national banks. Together we strive to find an international solution here.
Congratulations
During the evening event, Supervisory Board Chair Dagmar Knopek, former chairman of the Supervisory Board and founding father Raymond Trotz and Managing Director Tanja Reiss were particularly delighted: They could welcome the 2,000nd valuer who has obtained a HypZert certification and the recipient of the 100th CIS HypZert (MLV) certificate. We congratulate Mr Stefan Danz from LB ImmoWert in Frankfurt and Ms Diane Viggiano from pbb in New York!

Many thanks to everyone who helped to organize, who lectured and joined in networking and discussions.
The next HypZert Annual Convention
Due to HypZert's 25th anniversary in 2021, the next Annual Convention will not take place until March 2022. Instead, we will keep you up to date in several seminar days in different cities next year. Dates and locations will be announced in good time. We look forward to welcoming you again at one of the next events!
